Update on JaKobe...again!

Hopefully I don't have to do this post too much longer. Oh no did I just jinx us. On Saturday(8/9) I went to the hospital to see my baby and received some GOOD news. JaCoby was looking really good and his doctor didn't see a need to make him suffer longer than necessary so they are going to start the count down of NPO(yada yada only know it means nothing by mouth)from the day he got there. Which means instead of it being day 3 it was day 5. He gets to eat on day 7, more good news. So today(8/12)he got to eat 6 ml's every 3 hours. They have to start slow to see if he tolerates it. I fed him from a bottle this morning and he did great. Once he gets closer to a full feeding they will let me nurse again. YEAH more pumping:{ So all in all we're getting there!!

@@(:HaPPy BIrtHdaY ZaCH maN!:)@@

Zacha turned 3 on August 11th. He had such a fun day and of course he got spoiled! This was his cake that a lady in our ward offered to make. It was fantastic and he loved it!
It's just a card but it made his day...Lightening McQueen. Need I say more?
Transformers...awesome:)
Again...Lightening McQueen!
And a new bike! Happy Birthday Buddy! We love you:)

PICC line...owie:(

This is JaCoby PICC line. I have no idea what it stands for but I know the whats and the whys. Newborn babies have very small veins...I know I know you already knew that but what you didn't know is that their veins are very fragile...okay so you knew that too. Having that out of the way, it is an IV line that they put in a larger vein in the arm and feed though closer to the heart. Like I said their veins are very fragile and the fail very quickly especially with the fluids they are giving him. TPN(again don't know what it stands for yada yada)fluids that they make individually for each baby. They draw blood and see what the baby's body is in need of and then they make the fluid. Lipids which is basically fats. They are doing this because he can't eat ANYTHING!!! So so crappy!! I know you're asking yourself, he has to be losing weight. Oh no he is gaining weight but yes he is VERY hungry:( Anyway when they have this central line in they are able to give him more concentrated doses because the amount of blood in your heart can dilute the fluid more quickly. Hence...a PICC line. What a decision to make for your 3 week old baby!
Summary: The whats a central IV line
The Whys less poking!

Krystal going to the chapel...

Okay so I don't have a picture of Krystal, but as soon as I do I will post it. She looked absolutely beautiful and the day was perfect. This is a onsie that Marcus' cousin made. Update on JaKobe 8/7

We've hit a bump in the road. On Monday JaCoby's nurse changed a diaper that looked off to her so she decided to send a sample to the lab to see if there was blood in it. His belly was tender and measuring the same as before but she wanted to be safe not sorry. That night I went in to nurse him and the NNP(Neonatal Nurse Practitioner)said that it was nothing and she thought it had been cancelled. Tuesday morning Dr. Bentley called and said it came back positive for blood but they weren't too concerned because his lab work looked good and the xray looked clear. He told me to start preparing to bring him home. An hour later he called and said that they found something on the xray that looked like neumatosis(sp?) That is an infection in the bowels that can be life threatening. I was terrified. They told me they were moving him to Primary Children's Hospital. Marcus and I arrived at LDS at 11:30 and they had him ready to go. Another Dr. showed us the xray and told us it wasn't as serious but they still didn't feel comfortable keeping him there. He was going to be moved to the new IMC in Murray.
They have been taking xray's of his belly every two hours and last night August 6 the neumatosis was gone. Now we have to wait ten days on bowel rest which means he can't eat anything. It is so hard to see him struggling and crying for something to eat. But at least we know he is clear af the infection. After the ten days they start up feeding again but slowly. We are looking at another two to three weeks in the NICU.
Please keep JaCoby and our other children in your prayers. This has been so difficult on all of us. Thank you so much for everything you've done for us.

Update on JaCoby

JaCoby is doing very well. We're hoping he will be home this weekend. He just needs to master all his feedings on his own. Thanks to everyone and their support and love. We are so grateful to all that participated in the fast and have kept JaCoby and our family in your prayers. Heavenly Father has definetly heard them. JaCoby is our little miracle. When he was born he was in real bad shape. To see where he is in two short weeks is amazing. He is so strong and healthy. Thanks again to everyone. We LOVE you!

Update on JaCoby July 22

These pictures are from my cell phone so they aren't that great. His billi rueben went back up to 15:( So back under the lights we go. He absolutely would have nothing to do with the googles so we had to prop up a burp cloth over his eyes. He is off forced air and is breathing room air at 90 to 100 percent oxygen. Yea JaCoby!
They had to put his IV in his head because he keeps pulling it out! Monkey:) I got to nurse him twice today and he latched right on. Great job buddy!

Update on JaCoby July 21st

On Monday JaCoby's billi rueben dropped to 13, so he was off the lights! Yipee! He was at 2 1/2 liters of forced air and the oxygen they were giving him was between 20 to 30 percent. His feeding went up to 12 cc every 3 hours.
This is his bed. The nurse's that take care of him are wonderful! I love LDS Hospital.
It was so fun to see him awake! He is so sweet. Now I have 4 boyfriends!

Update on JaCoby July 20th

This was JaCoby on Sunday July 20th. He developed jaundice. Which means his liver is overloaded so his skin turned yellow. This is very common in preemies and not very serious if you get the right treatment. The lights help drop their billi rueben. His count was at 15. The lights don't hurt their eyes they just use them so he can sleep because the lights are very bright.
He was very comfortable. He loved the heat from the lights.
I'm afraid that someday he's going to use that toe to pick his nose! Or one of his siblings nose:)
I HATE seeing all these lights and tubes attached to him!

He is SOOO little compared to my 9 lbs 1 oz Kaden!!!
